Rob Lowe was feeling nostalgic over the weekend and decided to share a very fun throwback photo. The 59-year-old share a snap of himself with the late George Michael and Demi Moore from sometime in the 1980s. His son, John Owen Lowe, joked around by commenting, “You’re old.”

Perhaps Lowe was feeling introspective after talking to his old friend Andrew McCarthy for his upcoming Brat Pack documentary. Lowe, McCarthy, Moore, and others starred together in the 1985 film St. Elmo’s Fire. After not wanting to be a part of the Brat Pack for decades, McCarthy decided to change his tune and is now opening up about his experiences and encouraging his former co-stars to share theirs.

Moore was also a very important part of Lowe’s life as she helped him get sober. Moore also struggled with substance abuse and Lowe recalls that she was the first person he knew that got sober and inspired him to get sober as well. She was a good example for him during his early days of sobriety.

He said, “She was a huge inspiration to me. It was the ’80s, we were all doing our thing. I just remember thinking, ‘If that girl can get sober, anybody can.'” Now, Lowe has been sober for 33 years, just recently celebrating another year. He shared a photo of himself in the ocean and wrote, “33 years ago today I found recovery and a tribe that has sustained me on my incredible, grateful journey. My life is full of love, family, God, opportunity, friends, work, dogs and fun. If you or someone you know is struggling with any form of addiction: hope and joy are waiting if you want it, and are willing to work for it!”

Now Lowe inspires others to be sober, including his son. He has been sober for five years and credits his family’s support for all of the changes he’s made in his life.
