MeTV Remembers the M*A*S*H Finale on Veterans Day

“Goodbye, Farewell and Amen,” the finale episode of M*A*S*H, was one of the most-watched and most emotional television finales of all time. It first aired on Feb. 28, 1983, and over 105 million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to the men and women of the 4077th.

In honor of Veterans Day, MeTV will present its annual broadcast of the M*A*S*H finale on Monday, Nov. 11 from 7-10pm ET/PT. In addition to showing the uncut final episode of M*A*S*H, it will air exclusive cast and creator interviews, discussing the impact the show and its finale had on the American people.

M*A*S*H regularly airs on MeTV with four back-to-back episodes Monday-Friday from 6-8pm ET/PT, and on Sundays from 7-8pm ET/PT. M*A*S*H began as a novel in 1968 by Richard Hooker and in 1970, a feature film. The series premiered on CBS in 1972, starring Alan Alda, Wayne Rogers, Larry Linville, Loretta Swit, McLean Stevenson, Gary Burghoff, Jamie Farr and William Christopher, and was meant to showcase the tragedy and drama of the Korean War, with some humor thrown in.

It is one of those classic shows that just about everyone loved because it had something for everyone. There were many stories of people waiting with bated breath for the finale and even forgoing bathroom breaks so they wouldn’t miss anything. Remember, these were the days before DVR!
