Barbara Bach Turns 80: Where Is the Famous Model & Classic Bond Girl Now?
Barbara Bach turns 80 on August 27, and you may remember her as a successful fashion model before becoming one of the most memorable women in James Bond history. She has also spent more than four decades married to former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.
While Bach quietly left acting behind around 40 years ago, she has not completely disappeared from public life. She still attends events with Starr, and the couple recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. In honor of her birthday, let’s take a look back on her career and find out what she’s been up to more recently.
From fashion model to Bond star

After graduating from high school, she shortened her last name and began modeling with the Eileen Ford Agency. She appeared on magazine covers around the world, including the July 1966 issue of Vogue, photographed by Richard Avedon. Her acting career began in Italy, where she played Nausicaa in the 1968 television adaptation L’Odissea. Bach continued appearing in Italian films before landing the role that made her internationally famous.
In 1977, she starred opposite Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me as KGB agent Major Anya Amasova, also known as Agent XXX. When British and Russian nuclear submarines vanish, Amasova and Bond are ordered to work together. The role became Bach’s best-known acting credit. She followed it with parts in Force 10 from Navarone, The Humanoid, Up the Academy and The Unseen.
How Barbara Bach met Ringo Starr

Bach met Starr in 1980 while filming the prehistoric comedy Caveman. Although they played love interests, Bach later said they did not become a couple until the final week of production. They married in London on April 27, 1981, with approximately 70 guests in attendance, including Paul McCartney and George Harrison. It was a second marriage for both. Bach already had two children, Francesca and Gianni, while Starr had three children, Zak, Jason, and Lee.
After Caveman, Bach made a few more screen appearances, including a cameo with Starr in Paul McCartney’s 1984 film Give My Regards to Broad Street. Her final credited appearance was in the 1986 short film To the North of Katmandu, which followed a celebrity elephant polo event in Nepal.

Bach and Starr now live in Los Angeles and celebrated 45 years of marriage in April 2026. When People once asked Bach about the secret to their lasting relationship, her answer was simple: “I love the man, and that’s it.” Bach still occasionally accompanies her husband to public events. On July 7, 2026, she joined Starr and her sister Marjorie at his annual Peace & Love birthday celebration in Beverly Hills.
The couple has also devoted time to charitable causes. Their Lotus Foundation supports projects involving substance abuse, cancer, brain tumors, cerebral palsy, homelessness, domestic violence, environmental causes, and animals in need. However, Bach no longer acts or models and generally keeps a lower profile than her famous husband.
