Who Are Christopher Reeve’s Kids?
When I was a kid, I thought my dad was Superman, but can you imagine being able to brag that yours actually was? This was the case for Superman star Christopher Reeve‘s children. Before his untimely death on Oct. 10, 2004, he had three children. He had his first two children, Matthew Reeve and Alexandra Reeve Givens, with his former partner Gae Exton. In 1992, he married Dana Reeve and they had their son, William “Will” Reeve, the same year. As this year marks the 20th anniversary of his death and the premiere of the documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, find out what his kids are up to now.
Matthew Reeve (44)
Matthew is Reeve’s first child. Reeve was filming Somewhere in Time with Jane Seymour and she once revealed that they were secretly dating at the time. Things came to a halt when Exton called Reeve to tell him she was pregnant with their child. They stayed together for a while and had their daughter, Alexandra, as well. These days, Matthew follows in his father’s footsteps to have a career in the film industry. He attended Brown University and went on to focus on writing, directing and producing. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for narrating the film Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion, which he also produced and directed.
Along with his siblings, he sits on the board of directors for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and is committed to finding a cure for spinal injuries much like the one his father suffered from.
Alexandra Reeve Givens (40)
Alexandra attended Yale University and received a law degree from Columbia University. She now works in politics and law and currently works as the president and CEO of the Center for Democracy & Technology. She previously worked as the chief counsel on technology and consumer protection for the United States Senate. When she is not working her job or with her family’s foundation, she focuses on her family. She shares a son, Christopher Russel Reeve Givens, with her husband, Garren Givens. She confirmed he was named after her dad.
Will Reeve (32)
As the youngest sibling, Will was only 12 years old when his father died. Sadly, tragedy struck again when his mother Dana died just a few years later in 2006 from lung cancer. He moved in with a family friend to finish school in the same area and later attended Middlebury College.
Will became a broadcast journalist and currently works as an ABC News correspondent. He is set to make a cameo in the new Superman film, which comes out in 2025.
