Tom Selleck Trades in His Iconic Mustache for a Beard – See His New Look (PHOTOS)

Ever since he came to fame as the star of ’80s TV phenomenon Magnum P.I., fans have associated Emmy winner Tom Selleck with his trademark mustache. His iconic facial continued through his roles in Three Men and a Baby, Mr. Baseball, Friends, and his 14-season run as Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on police drama Blue Bloods.
However, on July 14, 2025 — seven months after the final episode of Blue Bloods aired — Selleck was spotted running errands around his California neighborhood with a new facial hair look. The actor, 80, sported a bushy gray beard — a wilder version of the salt-and-pepper beard that he debuted in late 2024, at a PaleyFest tribute to Blue Bloods.
Selleck made his acting debut in 1969, as a guest star on an episode of Lancer; appearances on Marcus Welby M.D. and The Rockford Files paved the way for his 1980 breakthrough on Magnum P.I. His eight seasons on the show yielded him an Emmy and a Golden Globe. After focusing more on film and TV guest spots, Selleck returned to a regular TV gig with Blue Bloods in 2010. The show’s second season was the only one to land outside the top 20; its 9th through 13th seasons saw it rated one of the top 10 most popular TV shows in America.
