‘Dick Van Dyke 100th Celebration’: Premiere Photos (Exclusive)
The film premiere of Dick Van Dyke 100th Celebration in Malibu event was a delightful event with a full house of approximately 200 attendees. There was a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car on display at the venue and a group of folks performed a dance routine to a medley of songs from Mary Poppins (first, outside by the car — and then again inside, on stage, before the start of the film). They also had a Dick Van Dyke character look alike contest with several folks participating. Dick’s wife, Arlene, was the judge of the contest.
Producer/director of the film Steve Boettcher was on hand to offer some remarks about the film, and Arlene also offered some sentiments on her and Dick’s behalf, in advance of the film screening. (Dick did not attend).
Prior to the screening, attendees were able to peruse several displays of Vandycamp items (buttons, calendars, photographs, etc.) and have their photos taken (see display). I had a Dick Van Dyke Show table of memorabilia which seemed to be appreciated by fans.
