Sex Pistols Cancel North American Tour Due to Injury
Fans hoping to finally catch the trailblazing punk icons the Sex Pistols will have to wait a little longer: Frank Carter and the recently reformed band have canceled their current tour.
Featuring lead singer Carter (of Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes, Gallows, and Pure Love fame) alongside original members Paul Cook, Glen Matlock, and Steve Jones, the band took to social media to announce the sad news.
“We have some unfortunate news to share about our upcoming North and South American performances. We’ll let Steve explain what’s going on:
‘I’ve got some good news and bad news. What do you want first? Okay, the bad news: I’ve broken my wrist, so unfortunately, we won’t be doing any shows for a while. The good news is the surgeon said I will be back playing guitar in the not-too-distant future. The other good news is I’ll be 70 tomorrow! God bless, and God save the wrist.’
The performances will be postponed and rescheduled when Steve has fully recovered. Please check local venue websites and our social media for more information. We appreciate your understanding and support.”
The high-profile 2025 North American tour, fronted by Carter, was scheduled to kick off September 16 at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, Texas. The band had planned to perform their iconic (and only) album, 1977’s Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols, in its entirety, along with additional material, before wrapping up on October 16 in Los Angeles, California.
The last time the Sex Pistols toured North America was in 2003, when they were joined by their original lead singer Johnny Rotten (a.k.a. John Lydon).
When the tour was first announced, Carter told AP News: “I think everybody needs this band right now. I think the world needs this band right now…And I think definitely America is screaming out for a band like the Sex Pistols.”
