Watch Melissa Gilbert’s Granddaughter Follow in Her Footsteps (VIDEO)

Little Laura Ingalls is all grown up—and a grandmother to a rockstar-in-the-making. On Aug. 5, Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert proudly shared a video of her granddaughter, Lulabelle, playing in a band called Cream Soda. In the clip, the group of young children performs the Cranberries’ “Zombie,” with Lulu singing and strumming the guitar.
“I couldn’t be more proud, especially of that guitar solo at the end,” wrote Gilbert. She also added that Lulu is “going to be 11 in November and I cannot get over how brilliantly talented she is!”
“Not only is she talented,” continued Gilbert, “she’s so smart and funny and compassionate and generous. I’m so proud of her, I could just explode. I love you, Lulu!!! xoxo, Granny Mel”

Gilbert has forged a close bond with eight of her grandchildren. In 2023, she told USA Today how Lulabelle asked to watch Little House on the Prairie for the first time. At the time, Gilbert’s granddaughter was the same age she was when she starred in the show.
After watching a few episodes, Lula turned to her and said, “Granny Mel, will you put my hair in braids?”
Gilbert was formerly married to actors Bo Brinkman and Bruce Boxleitner, with whom she each welcomed a son: Dakota Brinkman and Michael Boxleitner. Gilbert is also a stepmother to five: Bruce’s two children and the three children of Timothy Busfield, whom Melissa married in 2013.
Lula’s parents are Sam Boxleitner (son of Melissa’s second husband, Bruce Boxleitner) and Andrea Steele Boxleitner. Andrew shared the same performance video on her Instagram page, as well as an Instagram Story marking “Cream Soda’s summer performance!” Andrea also shared a video in May of Lulu performing a version of The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb.”
