Pat Boone Remembers Next-Door Neighbor Ozzy Osbourne: ‘God Bless You, Ozzy’

91-year-old Pat Boone took to social media to pay tribute to his late friend Ozzy Osbourne, who passed on July 22, 2025 — and yes, you read that right, Ozzy and Pat Boone were friends. The unlikely duo met when Osbourne and his family moved in next door to the “Moody River” singer. In a YouTube video interview, Boone recalled the day he noticed the family were moving in, and Osbourne invited him over for tea.
This was after Boone had already recorded a version of Osbourne’s song “Crazy Train” on his 1997 album In a Metal Mood. When the Osbournes started their reality television show, after they had moved away, Boone said that he tuned in and was shocked when he realized that his version of “Crazy Train” served as the show’s theme song. While Boone and Osbourne only lived next door to each other for about three years, it created a friendship that lasted much longer.

He said in the video, “He and Sharon liked my way … my version of the song and made it the theme song. These things are just hard to believe, aren’t they?”
After the tragic news of Osbourne’s passing, Boone shared a few photos and wrote, “I am stunned. I can’t believe that my former next-door neighbor and good friend has passed suddenly. When he and Sharon and the kids lived next-door to me for a couple of years, we weren’t rock stars comparing careers – we were just friends and neighbors getting along just fine.”
The post continued, “I was amazed when Sharon picked my version of Ozzy‘s ‘Crazy Train’ as the opening theme of their hugely successful reality TV show. Others may celebrate his incredible rocking style and hard rock music – but I’ll always remember his warm friendliness as my next-door neighbor. God bless you, Ozzy.”
