‘Ferris Bueller’ Star Reveals That Several Bueller Siblings Were Cut From the Film

You know that Matthew Broderick played the title character in the 1986 teen comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and that Jennifer Grey played his sister, Jeanie — but did you know there were originally other Bueller kids? (Cue Ben Stein voice: “Anyone? Anyone?”)
Cindy Pickett, who played mom Katie Bueller, confirmed that lore at the Hollywood Show convention, in Burbank, California, on Friday, June 6. During a Q&A at the convention, a fan asked if it were true that Ferris Bueller’s Day Off once included a subplot about other siblings.
“Yes,” Pickett said, citing the children’s drawings that adorn Buellers’ fridge. (You can see those drawings in the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off scene where Jeanie has a run-in with Jeffrey Jones’ Ed Rooney as the dean searches the Bueller home for his truant student.)
“There were two [additional] kids,” Pickett added at the convention. “We had a younger little girl, had a little boy, and they edited them out. So yeah, they were getting it out, except on the refrigerator door.”
A Ferris Bueller shooting script available online lists those M.I.A. siblings as 12-year-old Kimberly and 7-year-old Todd. Kimberly taunts Todd in the first scene, telling him his head would “swell up real big like a watermelon” and that the Buellers would “have to put [him] down like they do with a dog.”

And when Ferris feigns illness, Kimberly doesn’t seem too concerned.
“Myocardial infarction?” she asks. “Syphilitic meningitis? That would be a huge family embarrassment. … If he dies, I got dibs on his stereo.”
At the end of the script, though, Kimberly gets her comeuppance as Ferris gets her to believe her head is swelling up.
Hannah Cutrona played Kimberly in those deleted scenes, while Josh Peden played Todd, according to IGN. Both young actors stopped acting on screen in the early 1990s, according to their IMDb filmographies, though not before they made separate appearances in the TV show Quantum Leap.
You can see more evidence of the lost siblings in a framed photo in the office of Tom Bueller (Lyman Ward), Ferris and Jeannie’s dad, and you can see a quick shot of Cutrona delivering Kimberly’s “syphilitic meningitis” line in the Ferris Bueller trailer above.
