Free! Printable Daily Turner Classic Movies May 2025 Schedule! Plus: Star of the Month Mae West

Actress/singer/comedian/writer Mary Jane “Mae” West took the commanding and sexy stage presence and comedic tone (including those bawdy double entendres) that she had developed and honed in vaudeville and on Broadway to the motion picture screen starting in the 1930s — and she was a natural entertainer there, as well.
West did not make many films, but she left a memorable big-screen mark for which she is still remembered and enjoyed. TCM is featuring nighttime triple features of Mae West films the first three Sundays in May (the final Sunday is part of the network’s Memorial Day movie marathon), so you’ll have the chance to see nine of the first 10 titles in which she appeared.
Sunday, May 4 – Begins at 8pm

Everett Collection
The first evening, May 4, features her first three movies: Night After Night (1932); the Best Picture Oscar-nominated She Done Him Wrong (1933), starring West as a woman based on the title character she had played in the popular Broadway play she also wrote, Diamond Lil, alongside Cary Grant in an early major role; and I’m No Angel (1933), also featuring Grant and written by West.
Sunday, May 11 – Begins at 8pm

The night of May 11 features three more films led by West that she also wrote or cowrote, beginning with the Western Belle of the Nineties (1934). That is followed by another Western, Klondike Annie (1936), and the comedy Go West, Young Man (1936), both making their TCM premieres.
Sunday, May 18 – Begins at 8pm

On May 18, the final night of West’s Star of the Month celebration begins with another title making its TCM premiere, the comedy Every Day’s a Holiday (1937), written by West. Following that is one of her most-remembered features: the Western comedy My Little Chickadee (1940), which teamed her with W.C. Fields. The evening concludes with The Heat’s On (1943), a musical that marked West’s last big-screen appearance until 1970.
