Will Fans Finally Get to Hear Prince’s Unreleased Songs?

Though Prince, the iconic “Purple Rain” singer, passed away on April 21, 2016, fans may still be able to get their hands on some new music from the late star. In a recent interview with the Guardian, recording artist Chaka Khan, who worked with Prince many times over the years, hinted that some of his previously unheard and unreleased music could be coming.
She revealed that she recorded many songs with Prince that were never released, and that she is currently working on getting through some “red tape” in order to put out a brand-new album with those tunes included.

She shared with the Guardian, “Prince just grabbed ideas out of the air and left you wondering: ‘Where did you get that?’ He was a really deep and beautiful thinker. We worked on a lot of songs, and they’re all going to be on a CD I’m soon to release – there’s a lot of red tape that’s been in the way, but we’ve cleared it. It’s him and me and Larry Graham, together.”
Unfortunately, Khan did not share any additional details about what the songs could be or a timeline of the release, but we hope that they come to fruition soon! She covered Prince’s song “I Feel for You” in 1984 and it became a hit. They then collaborated with bassist Larry Graham in the 1990s.
Prince was also involved in Khan’s album Come 2 My House and is listed as a songwriter, performer and producer. In the meantime, while we wait for these new songs, let’s reminisce and listen to this lovely duet from Prince and Khan:
