‘Bold and the Beautiful’ Alum Ronn Moss and Wife Devin DeVasquez Team Up in New Western (Exclusive)

Fan favorite Ronn Moss is known for his 25-year run playing Ridge Forrester on Bold and the Beautiful, and for being a singer in the rock band Player, whose song “Baby Come Back” shot to the top of the charts in 1978.

ReMIND Magazine caught up with the star and his wife, Devin DeVasquez, at The Hollywood Show, which runs Friday, Jan. 10 and Saturday, January 11 at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel.

The couple divides their time between their home in Arizona and in Italy, where Moss enjoys tremendous popularity, as Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) is one of the country’s favorite series.

Moss says he loves living in Italy because it’s like residing in another era. “Beautiful sunsets and history and culture,” he shares. “It’s like being able to go back in time 50 years to a simpler, more organic time.”

Moss performs as a musician (click here to see where he’s performing next). but he’s also got a big acting project in the works, too. “We’re excited because we’re doing Ronn’s dream project, which is a Western series,” DeVasquez shares. “We were going to do it as a movie [Rejected] and we decided to make it a series because you can really dive in deep with these characters.”

While the series is a Western, the cast will include numerous female characters. “Ronn was just born to play the role he’s doing,” says DeVasquez. Moss will also direct the project. “He grew up with directing.”

Moss chimes in that he doesn’t like to talk about himself. Fortunately, DeVasquez’s enthusiasm for the show and her unwavering support of her husband makes up for the press-shy performer.

“Ronn’s always talked about wanting to do a Western,” DeVasquez says. “He loves cameras. So, it’s just a natural progression.”

Moss started stepping behind the camera back after he was cast in B&B in the mid-’80s, not as one of the show’s directors, but rather as an unofficial historian. This was before everyone had a movie camera built into their cell phone – Moss had a camcorder that, at the time, was cutting edge technology! “Ronn’s got behind-the-scenes [content] of B&B since day one; he always had a camera,” DeVasquez says.

“I’m actually getting to direct him, too,” she adds. “Because I’m doing a docuseries on his life growing up in old Hollywood.”

While most know Moss as either a member of Player or a soap opera star, DeVasquez touts that there’s so much more to her husband. “Ronn’s father dated [actress] Jean Harlow, and his mother taught Elizabeth Taylor how to ride a horse for National Velvet,” DeVasquez adds. “And his sister [Linda] won an Oscar for Sound Editing for Dances With Wolves! So, [Hollywood] is in his DNA.”

DeVasquez points out that Moss will soon be celebrating 50 years of the rock group Player. “Ronn’s had a beautiful life and we’re very grateful to be blessed with this history,” she says.

Moss will be acting in the Western series but music is arguably his greatest passion. “He’s doing the music for our different projects, movies, and television,” DeVasquez says. “He met [the late] Jim Morrison when he was only 14!”

Last summer, Moss reconnected with his former B&B leading lady Katherine Kelly Lang, who played Brooke (pictured below), and Ashley Jones, who played Brooke’s daughter Bridget. The three and other guests attended a private dinner party at a residence.

Moss will be playing a cowboy named Tex in his upcoming series; DeVasquez will be playing a madam!

“My name is Madam Virus,” DeVasquez says with a laugh. “I did not come up with that! Ronn’s character is not named after Tex Ritter. There’s a comic book character named Tex Willer and he looks just like Ronn. You have to see this picture. It was done in 1948. We saw a pictures and thought, ‘Oh, my gosh. This is really weird.’”

“We shot a promo and we’re back filming [very soon]; it’s a heavy-duty thing with a lot of women – and me,” Moss says. “It’s cool. It’s going to be a heavy-hitting series.”
