Clint Eastwood Didn’t Attend His Final Film Premiere This Weekend for ‘Juror No. 2’

Clint Eastwood celebrates his 40th film as a director with Juror No. 2, his latest and what may be his final film. The movie premiered this past weekend at this year’s AFI Fest, held at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre. Unfortunately for fans hoping to get a glimpse at the 94-year-old star, he did not show up.
AFI president Bob Gazzale confirmed that Eastwood would not be in attendance, saying to the audience that Eastwood “could not be here with us tonight, but we are here for him.” Of course, Eastwood is well into his 90s and may be dealing with health and/or mobility challenges.

Although he didn’t attend, the stars of his film said some very nice things about the famous director. In addition, his daughter, Francesca Eastwood, who appears in the film, was at the event.

Toni Collette, one of the stars of the film, gushed that Eastwood “as a director, which still blows my mind … but he is a truly good, solid human being. Getting to know him has been incredible.” Nicholas Hoult, another star, opened up about how nervous he was to audition for Eastwood. Both stars recorded a video message for Eastwood and had the audience say, “We love you, Clint!”

Juror No. 2 follows a man, played by Hoult, picked to carry out dreaded jury duty. Trying to navigate sobriety and having a pregnant wife (Zoey Deutch) at home, he would rather be anywhere else, especially when he realizes he may be the man at fault for the murder currently on trial. Hoult must decide if he will come clean or let an innocent man go behind bars. The drama was produced by Warner Bros. and is set to premiere in select theaters this weekend. No word yet on when Juror No. 2 will be available to rent or buy at home or be on a streaming service.
