Rob Lowe Reveals What He Took From ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ & ‘Tommy Boy’ Sets
Rob Lowe recently swung by The Talk to chat about the final season of his show 9-1-1: Lone Star. Lowe confirmed that they knew it was the last season, so the writers, cast and crew really made sure to make it special for the fans. He confirmed that fans should love the send-offs that the characters receive and added that he is very proud of the last season in particular. Of course, while talking about the end of the show, it brought up some past memories.
He said that he likes to take a memento from the set of each project he works on and 9-1-1: Lone Star was no different. He confirmed that he took one of the turnouts, or fire suits, from the show and said that it is “the real thing, it’s expensive.” Lowe took this memento because his home almost burned down in a wildfire about a decade ago and he could have used it then!
As far as other sets go, Lowe said that he kept his saxophone from St. Elmo’s Fire, although he wished he would have kept the iconic shirt too. He added that he kept a leather jacket from Tommy Boy and kept JFK’s teeth from the 2013 TV movie Killing Kennedy, based on the 2012 nonfiction book of the same title by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard.
Lowe and the hosts joked about the teeth, saying that it could make an actor look very different. He also added that they gave him a front hairpiece in order to portray the former president. Check out the entire chat here.
