Donny Osmond hasn’t stepped out of the time machine yet. A month after showing off his duet with his 14-year-old self at his Vegas residency, the singer is sharing another throwback: his new Instagram post shows the Osmonds — Donny’s family band with his brothers — meeting Liza Minnelli in the recording studio.

“Now that I’m home for the summer, I’m looking back through some old photos and found this gem with Liza Minnelli!” Donny wrote on Instagram, alongside a pic of himself and brothers Alan, Merrill, Jay, and Wayne Osmond huddled around Minnelli at the hallowed FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

“This was when we were recording ‘One Bad Apple,’ can you believe it?!” Donny added in his caption. “Thought you guys would get a kick out of it.”

By the way, “One Bad Apple” was written by George Jackson, and the Jackson 5 considered recording the song before recording “ABC” instead, as Donny revealed in 2011. That twist of fate worked well for the Osmonds: “One Bad Apple” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks in 1971, ranking as the Osmond’s only No. 1 hit. In a 2023 Instagram upload, Donny shared an autographed photo of himself and his brothers celebrating “One Bad Apple” hitting No. 1.

The track also served as the theme song to the group’s 1972 Saturday morning cartoon series, The Osmonds, which only lasted for 17 episodes but apparently made a big impact. “The series was a lot of fun to record, but it is even more fun when people come up to me today, years and years later, and remember the series with fondness,” Donny previously said.
