The large crowd got very emotional on Sunday at D23: The ultimate Disney fan event. D23 is an event that happens each year and allows Disney to share major updates they are planning to make in the parks as well as movie and television show news. Fans from all over came to California for the event, which also featured special celebrity guests. One of the most heartwarming segments paid tribute to the late Disney composer/songwriter Richard M. Sherman.

Sherman passed away in May at 95 years old after working with his brother Robert for decades with Disney. After Disney CEO Bob Iger shared some special memories of Sherman, Full House star John Stamos shared his gratitude for Sherman’s music. He introduced a panel of Disney legends who also shared memories of Sherman and then Stamos was joined by actor Darren Criss to perform “I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song)” from The Jungle Book.

Then, Disney stars Hayley Mills (The Parent Trap) and Lesley Ann Warren (The Happiest Millionaire) came together to sing “Let’s Get Together” from The Parent Trap. Mills joked that she needed Warren to sing with her because Warren had been in actual musicals while Mills was just in movies with songs. The duo sounded lovely and pleased the crowd.

Sherman’s son Greg and granddaughter Mandy Rose Wolf later came onstage to thank everyone for their support, and Wolf sang a beautiful version of “The Age of Not Believing” from Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Finally, everyone who appeared during the tributes returned for a singalong version of “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” from Mary Poppins.
