Sinéad O’Connor’s Cause of Death at 56 Revealed

Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor was found unresponsive in her home in London last July. She was pronounced dead at the scene at the age of 56. After the news broke, fans were devastated and wondered what happened to her. Now, the official cause of death has been revealed. She passed away from natural causes.

John Thompson, a clerk of Southwark Coroners Court added that “the coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death.” At the time of her death, her family released a statement that read, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.” Her death was not treated as suspicious but was given an autopsy.

O’Connor had a successful singing career and became an icon in 1990 with the release of “Nothing Compares 2 U.” She released 10 albums, with the most recent being “I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss” in 2014. Unfortunately, the Dublin-born singer experienced mental health issues throughout her lifetime including a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

She is survived by her three children. Sadly, her son Shane, died by suicide in 2022 at 17 years old. O’Connor was hospitalized days after his death for posting suicidal tweets online. She later apologized for upsetting fans and admitted that she was going to the hospital to receive help. Just days before her sudden death, she revealed that she was working on new music after previously saying she was retired.

She wrote, “Hi All, recently moved back to London after 23 years absence. Very happy to be home : ) Soon finishing my album. Release early next year : ) Hopefully Touring Australia and New Zealand toward end 2024. Europe, USA and other territories beginning early 2025 : ) #TheBitchIsBack.”
