Kevin Costner Was Just Thankful He Made it to The Golden Globes This Year
Kevin Costner was simply happy to be at the Golden Globes this year after being forced to miss out last year. Despite winning a 2023 Golden Globe award for his role as John Dutton in the popular series Yellowstone, he was not able to attend due to flooding in the area. The Santa Barbara area where Costner lives experienced heavy rainfall which turned into flooding and made it impossible for him to attend the award show.
He shared with his Instagram followers before the 2024 ceremony, “Excited to be presenting at the @goldenglobes tonight! Especially after staying back last year during the devastating storms back at home. I’m grateful to be here—thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press for having me!” While he said he was excited, some fans pointed out that he seemed a little off!

Last year, Costner explained his absence to his fans and said, “Yesterday we had to pull the kids out of school in Santa Barbara. This is the second time in five years that the freeway has flooded out, we found ourselves on the wrong side of the town and we couldn’t get back last night. Nobody’s sadder than us that we can’t be there at the Golden Globes. Chris had a beautiful dress, I was looking forward to walking down the red carpet with her.”

Costner and his wife Christine Baumgartner split months after he issued the apology for missing last year’s Golden Globes. They were married for 18 years before their divorce and share three children (Costner has seven total from different relationships). They were embroiled in a four-month battle for child support payments and the judge eventually ruled in Costner’s favor.

Costner opened up about his divorce and said that he will share more when he’s ready. For now, he said, “You know, when you have a life that long with somebody, there is no winner… and it’s this big, crazy thing called life and how it unravels so quickly. One minute you feel like you’re on top of the world, and then you realize how, you know, how vulnerable you are. She’s an incredible mom. We will figure it out and we’ll share. We just got to kind of convalesce right now.”
