Some of the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is reuniting for an exciting new project. Set 20 years after the series finale of the show, many of the characters are returning to lend their voices to an audio-only story on Audible. Slayers: A Buffyverse Story will star James Marsters (Spike), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Anthony Head (Giles), Juliet Landau (Drusilla), Emma Caulfield (Anya), Amber Benson (Tara), James Charles Leary (Clem), Danny Strong (Jonathan), and newcomer Laya DeLeon Hayes.

The description of the story reads that Spike is busy “convincing the forces of darkness that he’s back to his evil ways. But when his cover is compromised by 16-year-old Indira Nunnally (Hayes), Spike finds himself on baby-slayer-sitting duty once more. While he attempts to track down a watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never existed and Cordelia Chase is the one-and-only Slayer. And Cordelia needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world… his old flame, Drusilla.”

Marsters added, “I’m ecstatic to be back with my dear friends for this next chapter in the Buffyverse, as we take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock-full of horror, passion and mischief. I’m excited for old and new fans to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling.” The story was written by Benson and Christopher Golden. It will premiere on Audible on Oct. 12, just in time for spooky season.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a supernatural drama series created by Joss Whedon. It is based on his 1992 film of the same name and follows Buffy Summers, who is the latest Vampire Slayer in a long line of ancestors. Slayers are chosen by fate to battle vampires and other supernatural villains. Although Buffy rejects her fate at first, eventually she realizes this is what she’s meant to do and embraces it, along with her loyal friends called the Scooby Gang, a reference to Scooby-Doo. This audio story is the latest addition to the Buffyverse, which references anything involved in the franchise.
