Why Pamela Anderson No Longer Wears Makeup
Pamela Anderson was once known for her smokey eyes and pencil-thin eyebrows but these days she opts for a more natural look. There is a very somber reason that she no longer wears makeup. Her longtime makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, passed away after a battle with breast cancer in 2019. Since then, Anderson said that she stopped wearing makeup altogether.
She explained, “She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.” Vogel was responsible for her signature looks including the smokey eyeliner. They met at a cover shoot for Playboy magazine in 1993 and stuck together for decades until Vogel’s death.

For years, Anderson said she “just went along” with whatever people told her to do with her appearance. These days, she said she is learning to embrace her own natural beauty as she ages. The 56-year-old said, “I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”
Regardless of the challenging journey, the Home Improvement star said she felt a bit “rebellious” to go makeup free during a time when so many experiment with heavy makeup looks in the public eye. She feels like she is doing the opposite of what many people are doing and called it “freeing and fun.”
