Geddy Lee of Power Trio Rush Celebrates Another Year Around the Sun

Geddy Lee, bass and synth musician of the Canadian progressive rock band Rush, turns 72 today. He joined the band in 1968, and they toured relentlessly while releasing their self-titled debut in 1974. After a slew of successful albums through the late 1970s, all the way up to drummer Neil Peart’s death in 2020, they became one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world. But will Rush ever play again? Recently, guitarist Alex Lifeson, who has been busy with his side project Envy of None, told the Prog Report (transcribed by Blabbermouth) in April, “I don’t know. Anything could happen in the world. I mean, so many things are changing, so many things are happening that we never would’ve expected. We see that every day, particularly politically. So, who knows? Right now we’re still busy living life and doing so much, but — well, we’ll see what happens.” As for Geddy, he has been busy writing and promoting his memoirs “My Effin’ Life,” doing charity work and together Geddy and Alex have been promoting their beer line with Henderson Brewing Company.
In honor of Geddy’s birthday, we put together this little video set list, which includes some of our favorite videos from the decades.
