It was a commercial success that led to two direct sequels, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze in 1991 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III in 1993. It was not until 2007 that the next film came out, titled TMNT, which was the first animated film in the series. Renowned producer/director Michael Bay produced two reboot series titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows that came out in 2014 and 2016.
