Svengoolie
MeTV

June is bringing another strange mix of classic horror, sci-fi and comedy to Svengoolie‘s Saturday night picks. This month’s lineup includes a moody British horror favorite, a late ’90s horror-comedy, an Abbott and Costello ghost story, and one of Toho’s biggest monster movies. It is a great mix for all different kinds of horror fans who are ready to beat the heat and stay in to watch a classic, hosted by Svengoolie and his gang.

These films air Saturdays from 8 to 10:30 pm ET/PT on MeTV. Here is what is coming up in June 2026.

June 6: Curse of the Demon

The month begins with Curse of the Demon, the 1957 British horror film released in the U.K. as Night of the Demon. Directed by Jacques Tourneur, the film stars Dana Andrews as Dr. John Holden, an American psychologist who travels to England to investigate a satanic cult after a mysterious death. The movie was adapted from M.R. James’ short story “Casting the Runes,” and it has remained a favorite among horror fans who like slow-building dread.

It is also one of those films where the behind-the-scenes debate has become part of the legacy, since producer Hal E. Chester reportedly pushed for the demon to be shown more clearly, while Tourneur preferred a more suggestive approach.

June 13: House of Svengoolie Presents Idle Hands

IDLE HANDS, Elden Henson, Seth Green, Viviva A. Fox, Devon Sawa, Jessica Alba, 1999

Everett Collection

On June 13, the Sven Squad takes over with House of Svengoolie. Sarah Palmer appears as Gwengoolie, Scott Gryder appears as IMP, or Ignatius Malvolio Prankerstein, and Bill Leff appears as Nostalgiaferatoo. The featured movie is Idle Hands, a 1999 horror-comedy starring Devon Sawa, Seth Green, Elden Henson, Jessica Alba, and Vivica A. Fox. The movie follows Anton Tobias, a lazy teenager whose hand becomes possessed and starts killing people. It is a tongue-in-cheek, late ’90s horror-comedy that has since become a cult classic.

June 20: The Time of Their Lives

THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES, from left: Bud Abbott, Lous Costello, 1946

Everett Collection

Abbott and Costello join the June lineup on June 20 with The Time of Their Lives. Released in 1946, the fantasy comedy stars Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, though it is not quite the usual version of the duo fans might expect. Instead of playing their typical comic partners, they spend much of the movie in separate roles. The story follows two spirits from the Revolutionary War era who are trapped after being wrongly branded as traitors. Costello plays Horatio Prim, while Abbott plays both Cuthbert Greenway and Dr. Ralph Greenway. The movie blends supernatural comedy with a period setting, giving Svengoolie viewers something lighter.

June 27: Destroy All Monsters

June ends in a very iconic way with Destroy All Monsters. Released in Japan in 1968, the Toho film was directed by Ishirō Honda and brings together a monster lineup that includes Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah, and more. The movie is set in the future, where Earth’s monsters have been contained on Monsterland before aliens known as the Kilaaks take control of them and send them on a global rampage. For Godzilla fans, Destroy All Monsters remains one of the major monster mash entries of the Showa era, especially because it gathers so many Toho creatures into one film.
