How Well Do You Remember 1966?
60 years ago, the United States was going through many exciting — and anxiety-provoking — changes. The hippie counterculture movement continued to pick up steam, releasing great music and clashing with the establishment in the run-up to 1967’s Summer of Love. The Cold War went to space, as the US and the USSR competed to become the first to land a man on the moon. TV shows we’d treasure for generations, like Dark Shadows and Mission: Impossible, hit the airwaves. The Grinch stole Christmas for the first time on CBS, families tried to balance while playing Twister for the first time, and the Beatles played their last formal concert. You could mail a letter for five cents, and fill up your car for 32 cents a gallon.
