Former Disney Channel star Ashley Tisdale recently blasted a “toxic” celebrity group in which she was a member — and now, fans are weighing in on who she deemed a “bad” person.
In a Jan. 1 essay published by The Cut, the High School Musical alum, 40, opened up about being “frozen out” of her mom friend group. Tisdale is married to composer Christopher French, and they share two daughters, Juniper, 4, and Emerson, born in September 2024.
“I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story,” she wrote. “I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me.”
Tisdale continued, “At first, I tried not to take things personally. It’s not like people aren’t allowed to get together without me — and maybe there were perfectly good reasons that I hadn’t been invited. We were all busy, life was hectic. I told myself it was all in my head and it wasn’t a big deal.”
However, the situation started to remind her of dealing with mean girls during her teen years.
“Here I was sitting alone one night after getting my daughter to bed, thinking, ‘Maybe I’m not cool enough,’” she confessed. “All of a sudden, I was in high school again, feeling totally lost as to what I was doing ‘wrong’ to be left out.”

Ultimately, Tisdale said she texted the celebrity mom group, “This is too high school for me and I don’t want to take part in it anymore,” and officially made her exit.
Although Tisdale did not name anyone, she previously posted photos while spending time with Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor. She also wrote, “To be clear, I have never considered the moms to be bad people. (Maybe one.)” However, Tisdale warned “wannabe online sleuths” about speculating who the moms were, telling them, “whatever you think is true isn’t even close.”
On Reddit, the essay still prompted fans to share their theories about who the “bad” person was.
“The only one she unfollowed was Mandy Moore, so my money is on her,” one Redditor guessed.
Another pointed out, “It honestly sounds like the other women just didn’t like her that much,” to which a different Reddit user replied, “I was hoping Hilary Duff wasn’t an unnecessarily mean girl, this sounds fair IMO.”
Someone else predicted, “I’m calling it first, Meghan will release a cringey diss track about Ashley in the near future.”
