Room for Two star Patricia Heaton honored her beloved TV mom, Linda Lavin, in a touching tribute one year after her death.
On January 2, the Everybody Loves Raymond star, 67, took to Instagram with a video honoring Lavin. The actress died at 87 on December 29, 2024, from cardiopulmonary arrest, with lung cancer as a contributing factor.
“🤍 One year since she left us,” Heaton captioned her update. “Forever grateful to Linda Lavin — who we lost way too soon. She was my TV mom and, suddenly, my mentor. I played her daughter on Room for Two, but in life, she taught me so much more. So loved. So missed.”
In the accompanying video, Heaton further detailed her enduring gratitude for Lavin’s influence early on in her acting journey.
“She was so important to me, starting out in my career,” she continued. “She cast me in my first regular role on a sitcom, playing her daughter. I learned so much from her as an actress, but even more importantly, as a person.”

Room for Two aired for two seasons from 1992 to 1993, during which Heaton played Jill Kurland, and Lavin played her mother, Edie Kurland. In the series, Edie, a widow, moved from Ohio to live with Jill, a TV producer, in New York City.
Since then, Heaton has starred in several other sitcoms, including nine seasons in Everybody Loves Raymond, one season of Back to You, nine seasons of The Middle, one season of Carol’s Second Act, and more.
