‘The Muppet Show’ Debuts Official Trailer — Here’s How to Watch The New Special
It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets on The Muppet Show…this February.
On February 4, Jim Henson‘s beloved Muppets, including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Gonzo the Great, will make their triumphant return to small screens when The Muppet Show premieres as a special on both network and streaming services.
Produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s Point Grey Pictures and featuring Coachella headliner Sabrina Carpenter, as well as Maya Rudolph and Rogen, the special will coincide with the show’s 50th anniversary.

When and where will The Muppet Show special air?
The Muppet Show special event will air on Disney+ and ABC on Wednesday, February 4.
Who stars in The Muppet Show special air?
Guest star Sabrina Carpenter will headline in the special, which will also feature Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and more as they return to the Muppet Theatre for their iconic variety show.
Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel will perform the majority of the iconic Muppet characters in this production, supported by a team of talented performers.

What is The Muppet Show special about?
According to the official logline: “It’s ‘The Muppet Show!’ Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the beloved Muppet gang are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!”
Is it possible to stream the original series?
The entire original five-season run of The Muppet Show, which ran from 1976 until 1981, is available to stream on Disney+.
Who is behind the curtain on The Muppet Show?
The special is written by Albertina Rizzo and directed by Alex Timbers. The pair will also serve as executive producers alongside Carpenter as well as Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee for Point Grey Pictures; David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, and Michael Steinbach for The Muppets Studio; and Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson.
Will there be more?
In the new trailer, Kermit himself states: “It’s the return of The Muppet Show! Back on the very stage where it all started, and then ended, and maybe starting again.”
According to Deadline, the furry frolic is expected to serve as a backdoor pilot for a possible new series for Disney. The last time fans saw the Muppets in action was in Muppets Now, a sketch-comedy series on Disney+ where the Muppets create their own streaming content, featuring segments like Miss Piggy’s lifestyle show and the Swedish Chef’s cooking show. The gang also starred in 2021’s Muppet Haunted Mansion special and 2023’s The Muppets Mayhem series.
