Drew Barrymore once surprised Wicked star Ariana Grande with the original want that Billie Burke used as Glinda in The Wizard of Oz—and one fan dubbed it “one of the greatest moments in talk show history.”
In honor of Wicked: For Good officially hitting theaters on November 21, The Drew Barrymore Show reposted a video of the heartwarming December 2024 moment via Instagram.
“I have something that’s extremely exciting and special,” Barrymore, 50, told Grande, 32. The talk show host explained that it was owned by the Smithsonian but is now privately owned and loaned out for Grande’s appearance.
“Are you serious right now?” the Glinda actress exclaimed as the wand was brought out to her. She immediately covered her mouth and teared up.
“You look so perfect with it,” Barrymore pointed out.
“Thank you guys, it’s been fun,” Grande declared as she jokingly stood up and pretended to walk off set. The audience laughed, and she returned to the couch to sit beside Barrymore. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m kidding.”
