If you grew up watching Sister, Sister like I did, you probably remember Jackée Harry as the loud but loving mom Lisa on the ’90s sitcom, or as Sandra, one of the neighbors on ’80s comedy 227. On November 20, 2025, she returns to the small screen with a role in the second season of Netflix’s A Man on the Inside with Ted Danson. If you’ve wondered what she was doing in the years in between, Harry has been staying incredibly busy, racking up guest roles on shows from Pose to 2 Broke Girls, and landing a recurring role on Days of Our Lives.

Before she became known for her role as Lisa on Sister, Sister or Sandra on 227, Harry’s career took a very different direction. Harry, now 69, originally began teaching American history at Brooklyn Technical High School. She had earned her degree from Long Island University and fully expected to stay in education, but she always dreamed of being a performer.
Harry made her television debut in the early ’80s, but it was playing the witty Sandra Clark on 227 that transformed her into a household name. When she won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1987, she became the first African American woman to win in that category. In 1989, she even got her own TV movie called Jackée. A few years later, she stepped into the role of Lisa Landry on Sister, Sister, and the rest is history.

In the early 2010s, she took on a regular role in the syndicated sitcom The First Family, playing Pauletta alongside Christopher B. Duncan and Kellita Smith. In 2021, she surprised longtime fans again by joining Days of Our Lives as Paulina Price. She has continued to appear in a steady stream of projects, including holiday films, which have become a fun part of her later career.

Now, Harry has also joined Season 2 of A Man on the Inside, the Netflix mystery comedy created by Michael Schur. Deadline confirmed she appears in the new season, which premieres on November 20, 2025, and takes place at a liberal arts college. In terms of her personal life, Harry has been married and divorced twice, and has one son and two grandchildren. In a 2021 interview with People, she noted that she’s “still looking for love in all the wrong places … I like younger men. And that’s definitely the wrong place, but they’re much more fun!”
