Cheetos were introduced in 1948, while Doritos made their debut in 1964 — however, the iconic Frito-Lay snacks are undergoing major recipe changes for a “Simply NKD” line of the beloved chips.
Recently, trusted food blogger Snackolator asked his Instagram followers, “Are you ready to get NKD with some stripped down Cheetos and Doritos?!”
He explained that Simply NKD Cheetos and Doritos featuring no artificial dyes and no artificial flavors will soon head to store shelves alongside the regular versions everyone knows and loves. For the initial launch, fans can try Simply NKD Cheetos Puffs, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, Nacho Cheese Doritos, and Cool Ranch Doritos.

On its November 13 broadcast, Good Morning America also featured the Simply NKD Cheetos and Doritos, which will be a “natural pale yellow” instead of their typically vibrant orange to “appeal to health-conscious consumers and parents.”
Per GMA, Frito-Lay said the snack is “reborn with clean ingredients that retain the familiar taste” while ditching artificial flavors and dyes such as Red 40, Yellow 5 and Yellow 6.
Those interested in giving the Simply NKD Doritos and Cheetos a try can keep an eye out for them in stores starting on December 1.
