Apple+ TV’s Palm Royale comes back for a second season of social climbing and surprising personal relationships on November 12, 2025. But Mindy Cohn, who plays journalist Ann Holiday, revealed in an interview with TV Insider that she has a surprising personal relationship with costar Carol Burnett, who plays powerful Palm Beach matriarch Norma Dellacorte. Though Palm Royale is the first time the two have shared the screen, Cohn recalled that she actually met Burnett decades earlier, while waiting at her school’s pick up and drop off area.

“I first met Carol in the carpool line at Westlake School for Girls, because I went to school with her daughters,” recalled Cohn. Burnett’s daughters, whom she shared with second husband Joe Hamilton, are Erin Hamilton, a musician, Jody Hamilton, a film producer, and Carrie Hamilton, an actress who passed away from complications due to lung cancer in 2002, at the age of 38.

Westlake was famously how Cohn landed her breakthrough role as Facts of Life‘s Natalie Green: star Charlotte Rae and the show’s producers visited Westlake to research girls’ schools for the show, and were so taken by Cohn, who was an eighth grader at the time, that they created a role just for her. “A couple days later, we got a phone call from the headmaster’s office,” she told Vanity Fair in 2024. “‘Can Mindy go to the studio on Monday?’”

Cohn’s parents agreed to let her shoot the series as long as she remained enrolled in her regular school; looking back, she said her family treated the show as “just what I did after school—and then had to come home to four hours of homework a night. I will tell you that as a 17-year-old, I felt like a 40-year-old, and a lot of it just had to do with the school workload. But that preciousness of being on a TV show didn’t really hit until then, so I think it saved me.”

Cohn played Natalie for all nine seasons of the show, from 1979 to 1988.

More recently, Cohn spent over a decade voicing Velma in Scooby-Doo animated projects, and had guest spots on Hot in Cleveland, The Middle, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
