Suzanne Somers’ AI Clone: Husband Alan Hamel Shares Update on ‘Amazing’ Project

Suzanne Somers‘ husband, Alan Hamel, recently shared an update on the AI clone of his late wife that he helped create — and the widower called the project, Suzanne AI Twin, “amazing.”
During an interview with People published on October 21, Hamel opened up about Somers’ “AI twin,” its capabilities, and why he decided to take part in its creation. Somers died on October 15, 2023, at 76 after a battle with breast cancer; she and Hamel were married for 46 years before her death.
Hamel, 89, explained that the AI creation was trained with the help of Somers’ 27 books and hundreds of interviews she did through the years. In March, he demonstrated its capabilities at a conference, calling the AI version of his late wife “perfect.”
“It was Suzanne. And I asked her a few questions and she answered them, and it blew me and everybody else away,” Hamel told People. “When you look at the finished one next to the real Suzanne, you can’t tell the difference. It’s amazing. And I mean, I’ve been with Suzanne for 55 years, so I know what her face looks like, and when I just look at the two of them side by side, I really can’t tell which one is the real and which one is the AI.”

Hamel explained that he and the Step by Step and Three’s Company actress had spoken for decades about the possibility of an AI clone of Somers with their friend, computer scientist and author Ray Kurzweil.
“So it was Suzanne’s idea,” he shared. “And she said, ‘I think we should do that.’ She said, ‘I think it’ll be very interesting and we’ll provide a service to my fans and to people who have been reading my books who really want and need information about their health.'”
Ultimately, Hamel said that once Suzanne AI Twin is finished, it will be available as a chatbot on SuzanneSomers.com.
“We’ll invite all her fans and all our customers to come and talk to her,” he told People. “They can come and just hang out with her. They can ask her any questions they want. She’ll be available 24/7, and I think it’ll be really wonderful.”
