Veronica and Angela Cartwright are sisters who both formed their own successful acting careers. Recently, they shared a beautiful selfie during one of their get-togethers and captioned the photo, “That time I visited my sister and we had some fun… #veronicacartwright #angelacartwrightstudio.” Fans ate it up in the comments and made us reminisce about their careers.

Veronica was born in Bristol, England, on April 20, 1949, and Angela followed three years later on September 9, 1952, in Altrincham, Cheshire, England. Their family moved to Los Angeles when Angela was around one year old. Growing up in the early 1960s Hollywood scene together, they developed similar paths in film and television yet carved out their own unique careers.

Veronica began acting in 1958, at around nine years old, with early roles in films like In Love and War and television appearances on Leave It to Beaver, One Step Beyond and The Twilight Zone. She won acclaim portraying Cathy Brenner in Alfred Hitchcock‘s The Birds. Angela stepped into the world of entertainment even younger. At three, she appeared in Somebody Up There Likes Me and then alongside Rock Hudson and Sidney Poitier in Something of Value. She soon landed a seven‑season run as Linda Williams on The Danny Thomas Show (also known as Make Room for Daddy).

Angela’s portrayal of Brigitta von Trapp in The Sound of Music remains among her most beloved roles. Around that same time, she moved into science fiction television, starring as Penny Robinson in Lost in Space and had cameo appearances in both the 1998 film remake of Lost in Space and the 2018 Netflix series.

Meanwhile, Veronica continued into more intense adult roles with Invasion of the Body Snatchers and then as Lambert in Ridley Scott‘s Alien, which she earned a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. She followed that with strong performances in The Right Stuff, The Witches of Eastwick and numerous television guest appearances, including on ER and The X‑Files, earning multiple Emmy nominations.

Surprisingly, they never co‑starred in a major production but they did appear uncredited together in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents titled “The Shartz-Metterklume Method” which aired on June 12, 1960. In their spare time, Angela became a photographer with a studio in Studio City, Los Angeles, where her artwork is displayed. She also co‑authored books and publishes photography and mixed‑media work. Veronica married Richard Compton in 1982 and had one son; her husband passed away in 2007. Veronica’s personal life remains relatively private, but she stayed active in film and television well into the 2020s, including roles in The Rookie and Gotham Knights.
