‘Jaws’ 50th Anniversary: Steven Spielberg Will Introduce a Special Broadcast of His Classic on NBC

Steven Spielberg‘s classic thriller Jaws opened in theaters on June 20, 1975. Fifty years later to the day, on Friday, June 20, 2025, NBC will be airing a three-hour telecast of Spielberg’s film — which ushered in the era of the summer blockbuster and helped shape modern filmmaking — with a special introduction from the director himself.
NBC’s 50th anniversary presentation of Jaws, featuring a special introduction from Steven Spielberg, will air Friday, June 20, 2025, beginning at 8pm ET/PT.
Beyond this NBC airing, Universal, which produced the original film (and whose family NBC is a part of), has an even more extensive plan for how fans watching at home can enjoy Jaws around its 50th anniversary.
It’s a wide-reaching strategy to, as they say in a marketing release, “lift all boats” among other parts of the Universal family (that quote can’t help but bring to mind the famous line from the movie about needing “a bigger boat“; not sure if the pun was intended, but it works!)

Where to stream Jaws and its sequels
Beginning Sunday, June 15, 2025, the entire Jaws franchise — the 1975 original, plus Jaws 2 (1978), Jaws 3 (1983) and Jaws: The Revenge (1987) — will be available to stream in their uncut, commercial-free forms exclusively on Peacock.
This Peacock exclusivity will run for about a month, through Monday, July 14, 2025. Jaws has previously been available to stream for free in edited versions, with commercials, through platforms like Tubi; it’s unclear whether the film will still be available on those platforms during this window, but I would assume not.

If you’ve still got Jaws fever after its 50th anniversary celebrations on NBCUniversal outlets, don’t worry: on Friday, June 27, 2025, beginning at 7pm, AMC will be airing Jaws, Jaws 2 (1978) and Jaws 3 (1983). Then, after about an hourlong break for other programming, the network will understandably be dumping the pretty poor fourth entry, Jaws: The Revenge (1987), into a timeslot much later that night/early the next morning.
