Micky Dolenz Celebrates 80th Birthday at the Valley Relics Museum (See the Fun Photos!)

The Monkees star Micky Dolenz just celebrated a very special and exciting milestone: his 80th birthday! His friends and family gave him the surprise of a lifetime when they threw a big party for his birthday at the Valley Relics Museum in Los Angeles in honor of his big day on March 8. The event was complete with a fancy white cake and signature cocktails (The Micky D’s included vodka, St. Germain and club soda with an orange twist!).
Dolenz shared a few photos of the event on Instagram with his own message of gratitude. “I want to thank every single person for the overwhelming birthday wishes I received on entering my 8th decade. I was extremely touched by the amount of love out there and have spent a few days reading all the messages. The legacy to be continued ….❤️”

Dolenz’s friend Alison Martino, writer and owner of Vintage Los Angeles, shared lots of fun photos and videos too, including Dolenz as he walked into the surprise party. He looked pretty shocked at first and then quickly recognized all of the people there to celebrate him. Martino was dressed in a vintage Monkees tee to honor her friend.

She captioned the photos, “Happy surprise birthday @micky_dolenz! How we all managed to keep it a secret is a miracle. Last night the @valleyrelicsmuseum became ‘The Pleasant Valley Relics Museum.'” They even had a band rocking out to old-school tunes including the Beatles‘ “Twist and Shout.”
Dolenz is the only surviving member of the Monkees, the fictional band in the 1960s series that eventually became a real, touring music group. Davy Jones died on Feb. 29, 2012; Peter Tork died on Feb. 21, 2019; and Michael Nesmith died on Dec. 10, 2021.
