When you think of actor Bill Murray, you likely think of his many hilarious comedies, like Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day, rather than any type of music career. However, there’s more to Murray than jokes. After years of being a karaoke fan, he decided to form a band called Bill Murray’s Blood Brothers, and actually take his singing on the road. This year, he will embark on a U.S. tour covering classic songs from Bob Dylan, the Kinks and more.
The idea for a tour reportedly started in 2022, when he decided to perform the song “I Feel Pretty” from West Side Story in New York City. Fans ate it up and he collaborated with Jan Vogler for the concert film New Worlds: The Cradle Of Civilization, in which he sang and performed poetry. He continued to work with Vogler to create an album called New Worlds, blending together classical genres.
Murray and his band began their tour on January 3, 2025, in Chicago, and will head to other cities around the country, including San Francisco, New York, St. Louis, Atlanta, Austin and Des Moines. The tour will end in October with a show in Louisville, Kentucky. His backing band also includes artists Albert Castiglia and Mike Zito.
On this tour, you can expect to hear covers of songs such as “Tired of Waiting” by The Kinks and Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone.” If fans are lucky, maybe he will pull out some classic songs from his time on Saturday Night Live like the one above! Are you planning on attending any of his shows? Get tickets to see Murray and his band perform live here.
