Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr Reunite at London Concert (Video)
Though there will never be a Beatles reunion, fans got the closest thing possible on Thursday night at London’s O2 Arena, when Paul McCartney, 82, brought Ringo Starr, 84, out to play two Beatles hits. The mini-reunion occurred on the final night of McCartney’s “Sir Paul’s Got Back” tour.
After taking the stage, Starr told the crowd “I’ve had a great night tonight … how about you?” McCartney then asked, “Should we rock?” to which Starr replied, “I only rock.” Starr then took a seat behind the drum kit, playing through “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Helter Skelter.”

After playing the two songs, the two men embraced, and Starr told the crowd as he left the stage, “I’ve had a great night and I love you all.”
McCartney and Starr, the two surviving Beatles, last appeared together live on McCartney’s “Freshen Up” tour in 2019. They also collaborated on a 2023 cover of “Let It Be” with Dolly Parton that represented the first time McCartney and Starr were both credited on a Billboard-charting song that wasn’t a Beatles release.
Also in 2023, they appeared together on “Now and Then,” a final Beatles song that was completed by using modern AI technology to restore a low-quality John Lennon vocal track.
In a 2023 interview, Starr called McCartney “the brother I never had” and said, “Paul loves me as much as I love him.”
Starr’s new country album, Look Up, will be released on Jan. 10, 2025. McCartney’s most recent solo album was 2020’s McCartney III.
