You Could Own Olivia Newton-John’s Leather Jacket From ‘Grease’
If you’ve ever felt like a leather jacket from Grease is “the one that you want,” now you’re in luck! Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) are teaming up for “A Week of Hollywood Legends,” auctioning off items from some of the most famous stars of our time, including the late Olivia Newton-John.
There are over 400 items from the estate of Newton-John alone coming from her three homes in Santa Ynez, California; Jupiter, Florida; and Melbourne, Australia. Items range from her personal IDs and passports to music awards and even furniture and clothing.
Some original works of art that Newton-John created herself will also be available to bid on, starting Dec. 13, 2024, in Los Angeles, at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills or online. Starting on Nov. 22, 2024, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville will host an exhibition of many of the items for fans to view ahead of the auction.
Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated items is the leather jacket that she wore while filming Grease, which is expected to go for around $80,000. A portion of proceeds from the auction sales will go toward the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, which helps fund research for cancer and supports plant medicine research in particular.
This isn’t the first time the leather jacket has been sold in an auction. It was purchased for $243,000, and in 2019, the anonymous buyer gave the jacket back to Newton-John to be displayed at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Center. Newton-John then passed away in 2022 at the age of 73, after a decades-long battle with cancer. Visit the auction site to view all of the items here. Let us know in the comments which item you would most like to bid on if you had unlimited cash!
