AXS TV Shares October Schedule for ‘Rock Legends’ Series

AXS TV‘s artist profile series Rock Legends is rocking out again for its 13th season, starting tonight, Sept. 30, 2024, at 8pm ET and continuing throughout the entire month of October. Each week, Rock Legends will focus on a style or specific type of rock genre and showcase the legendary artists who made music history.

Each episode of Rock Legends shares archival footage and performances and celebrates many of the stars who made each genre so important. “The history of rock music is rich and diverse, packed with larger-than-life characters and monumental moments,” said Greg Drebin, AXS TV’s head of content and marketing. “Through rare footage with insightful expert interviews, Rock Legends brings viewers these incredible stories. We are proud to present 15 all-new episodes of this acclaimed series, and look forward to sharing them all with our viewers when Rock Legends returns on Sept. 30.”

Rock Legends premieres on AXS TV every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday now through October at 8pm ET:

Monday, Sept. 30 — Outlaw Country

Focusing on the small group of country artists that are considered outlaws, created in the ’70s and ’80s.

Tuesday, Oct. 1 — Honky Tonk

The term “honky tonk” often refers to a country music bar but it is also a style of country music, most commonly found in the South and Southwest of the United States.

Wednesday, Oct. 2 — 27 Club

The “27 Club” episode will remember rock stars that we lost far too soon, all at the age of 27, including Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin and more.

Monday, Oct. 7 — Songwriters Behind The Big Names

Learn more about the songwriters who wrote some of the most famous songs of all time.

Tuesday, Oct. 8 — Yacht Rock

Yacht rock describes songs from the ’70s and ’80s with catchy melodies and a soft-rock vibe.

Wednesday, Oct. 9 — Guitar Legends

What would rock ‘n’ roll be without some incredible guitarists? Learn more about guitar in regards to rock music.

Monday, Oct. 14 — Canadian Rockers

Although America is often thought of as the home of rock, some amazing artists have come from Canada, including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.

Tuesday, Oct. 15 — Drummer Legends

If Rock Legends is going to talk about guitars, the series cannot forget about the drummers who also contributed to these legendary tunes.

Wednesday, Oct. 16 — Doo-Wop Extra

Doo-wop originated in the ’30s and ’40s in African American communities across the country and is considered a key sound that helped form rock ‘n’ roll.

Monday, Oct. 21 — Heartland Rock

Heartland rock is often thought of as a poetic, Americana-focused style of music, one which first came about in the ’70s and ’80s.

Tuesday, Oct. 22 — Mod

Mod is more than just a music style from the ’60s — it became an entire subculture.

Wednesday, Oct. 23 — Punk Rock

Some bands rejected mainstream rock and created their own rebellious sound, known as punk rock.

Monday, Oct. 28 — 90s Riot Gurrrl

In the 1990s, a feminist punk movement began spreading, paving the way for women to come into the music genre.

Tuesday, Oct. 29 — Roots Rock

A look back on rock music’s earliest origins.

Wednesday, Oct. 30 — Politically-Charged Songs

Rock Legends will end the series with an episode devoted to politically charged songs — extremely topical, as the election grows nearer.
