Barbra Streisand Documentary: Everything We Know So Far
With so many music documentaries in the works, it is no surprise that another one is coming soon. A documentary about singer and actress Barbra Streisand, directed by Frank Marshall and produced by Alex Gibney, is confirmed. The EGOT winner is working closely with the team and providing archival materials and footage of her current projects.
What will the Barbra Streisand documentary be about?
The documentary will follow Streisand from her beginnings to her recent projects. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and started performing in nightclubs before getting her breakout role in the Broadway musical Funny Girl. She later starred in the film adaptation as well. It catapulted her into stardom, and she has built a very successful singing and acting career. Streisand said, “For years I’ve been thinking about the best way to share the vast amount of content I’ve been safely storing in my vault. These films, photos and music masters — many never seen or heard by the public — hold some of my most cherished memories. I’m so pleased that producer Alex Gibney and director Frank Marshall have agreed to take this journey with me.”
