Will Fans Vote Out Current Journey Singer Arnel Pineda?
Arnel Pineda has been the voice of Journey since 2007. While many fans consider Steve Perry to be the best Journey vocalist of all time, there have been several singers over the years, and Pineda has been going strong for almost 20 years now. However, things changed after a recent performance that left his involvement with the iconic band in question.
Pineda shared an emotional post on Facebook and wrote that he has felt “immense gratitude, humility and honor” every time he is on stage with Journey. Earlier this month, the band played at Rock in Rio. Fans questioned his vocals, and news outlets wrote about how he didn’t sound great. He confirmed that he had issues with the ear monitors and struggled to hit the notes during that performance.

In his post, Pineda said that if he gets 1 million comments asking him to leave the band, he will. He added that he has already suffered enough and thanked those who have believed in him since the beginning of his tenure with Journey.

Many fans commented in support of Pineda and said that he shouldn’t give up. His Journey bandmate guitarist Neal Schon even shared his support in the comments and wrote, “Arnel dont listen to these blogs. They are all bought. You’ve kicked ass!”

He previously shared that if Perry wanted to return, he would gladly give up his spot for him and said he hopes eventually to get more time with his family, as touring can be difficult.
After a few days, Pineda realized that most of the comments he received on his post were positive and he decided he should stay in the band. He criticized those who leave negative and hateful comments online and thanked his true fans for their support. He shared a video message and said, in part, “Hello, everyone. Firstly, I want to apologize for the inconvenience I have caused all of JOURNEY’s faithful fans out there. I know the band’s not perfect right now and in turmoil, but it is not going through some bad stuff these days anyway. My friends, again, you know who you are.”
