Peter Renaday, Voice of Master Splinter in ‘Ninja Turtles’ Dies at 89
Celebrated voice actor Peter Renaday has sadly died at the age of 89. He was found dead in his home in California during a welfare check and law enforcement confirmed his death appeared to be natural. Renaday was best known for being the voice of Hamato Yoshi/Master Splinter in the cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 1987 until 1996. He reprised the role during a live-action event called TMNT: Coming Out of Their Shells, recorded at Radio City Musical Hall.
Renaday also lent his voice to many Disney parks attractions, including Abraham Lincoln in The Hall of Presidents, Max in Country Bear Jamboree, Captain Nemo in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the narrator of Disneyland’s The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. He even voiced Mickey Mouse in several Disney albums and toys.
Disney had a soft spot for Renaday and his voice, as he was also featured in several Disney movies including The Love Bug and The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. He even met his wife at Disney. Florence ‘Flo’ Daniel worked as a secretary in the music department of the Walt Disney Studios. They wed in 1979 and were married until she died in 2011.
Not much is known about his personal life but he was born Pierre L. Renoudet on June 9, 1935, in New Iberia, Louisiana. Although he is now gone, his voice will remain for fans in his long list of career accomplishments.
