Queen Guitarist Brian May Suffered a Minor Stroke
Brian May, the guitarist of the rock band Queen, had a minor stroke last week that left him unable to control his left arm. Because of this, for obvious reasons, he could not play guitar, he said recently in a video posted on his Instagram feed. But don’t be alarmed: May has assured fans that he has already recovered enough to play again.
“Good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days,” he said, adding that the event was “a little scary” but that he “had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital.”

The musician has dealt with many health issues in recent years. In May 2020, he had a heart attack, after which he had three stents put in. Afterward, he suffered a range of complications, including a stomach hemorrhage as a result of the medication he was taking for his heart.
“[I’m] just doing what I’m told, which is basically nothing,” he said, listing the things he can’t do at the moment: drive, get on a plane or raise his heart rate too high.
May is most famous for being a founding member of Queen; he wrote some of their biggest hits, including “We Will Rock You” and “Who Wants to Live Forever.” He is also an astrophysicist and animal rights activist. In March of last year, he was knighted by King Charles III for his services to music and charity — so perhaps we should be calling him Sir Brian May?
