Suzanne Somers, best known for her roles in Three’s Company and Step by Step, passed away in October 2023 at age 76 after a long battle with breast cancer. Now, Somers’ widower, Alan Hamel, says that he still feels her presence around their home and opened up about some odd happenings that have given him some peace and hope for life after death.

Hamel explained, “One day I’m in the kitchen with my family, and all of a sudden, Suzanne’s favorite song comes on the audio system; the audio system wasn’t even turned on. It’s a Latin song, and it’s written and performed by someone no one’s ever heard of. It’s a song we used to dance to in the kitchen. It just came on all by itself. And then, when it was over, that was it. The audio system stayed off.”

“Later that day, the fireplace started by itself,” he continued. “It stayed on for an hour and then it turned off. Then one day, a hummingbird flew into our house. It goes to our little breakfast nook where there’s a photograph of Suzanne and me where we’re looking at each other. The hummingbird hovers in between our two faces. Then it flies up and sits on top of the photo. A few weeks later, I opened all the doors and windows and I saw the same hummingbird – they all have very distinctive colorings … I walked over and extended my hands. The hummingbird jumps into my hands, and she tucks in her little feet. All I felt was her belly. She felt safe.”

Despite the feelings of comfort that she is still near, Hamel admitted that it has been really tough for him in the past year or so because he hasn’t lived alone since he was 18 years old. Now at 88, he believes that Somers is waiting for him when his time comes and believes that there is an afterlife where the soul can thrive after it leaves the body.

While he waits for their heavenly reunion, Hamel hopes to keep his late wife’s legacy alive and uses her social media accounts to continue to promote her wellness brand. Before she died, she was quite active on social media, often showcasing her nightcaps with Hamel and promoting organic products from her brand. The brand includes makeup, skincare, supplements and, of course, her famous ThighMaster.
