Liza Minnelli Plans New Tell-All Memoir To Get Her Stories Out in HER Words.
If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in the life of Liza Minnelli, soon, you will no longer have to wonder! The actress and singer has just announced an upcoming memoir, due out in spring 2026.
Written in collaboration with Pulitzer Prize winner Heidi Evans and Los Angeles Times alum Josh Getlin, the Oscar winner, 78, promises that the book will offer an intimate look into her life, from her childhood as the daughter of the late Judy Garland to her rise to fame after the hit musical Cabaret. It will also cover her marriages, struggles with substance abuse and her career.
“Since I was old enough to put pencil to paper, people asked me to write books about my career,” Minnelli said in a statement shared with People Magazine. “Absolutely not! ‘Tell it when I’m gone!’ was my philosophy.”
However, she has since changed her mind, because of “a sabotaged appearance at the Oscars,” “a film with twisted half-truths” and “a recent miniseries that just didn’t get it right … All made by people who didn’t know my family, and don’t really know me,” she explains. “I was mad as hell! Over dinner one night, I decided, it’s my own story … I’m gonna share it with you because of all the love you’ve given me.”
The audio edition of the book will also include never-before-heard recordings from the last 15 years. Minnelli is one of the few performers who have achieved EGOT status, winning an Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Oscar Award and a Tony Award.
