Chinatown has been recognized as one of the great movies in cinema history and this year it celebrates its 50th anniversary. The 1974 neo-noir mystery film stars Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway and was inspired by real-life events of the California water wars. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were some disputes over southern California water and the film explores the tale of corruption and greed.

Nicholson plays private eye Jake Gittes who is hired by a socialite (Dunaway) to investigate her husband’s affair. Gittes finds himself in the midst of something much bigger than just an affair, including personal and political scandals that are all unveiled in one unforgettable night.
