Turner Classic Movies April Schedule with Brando
Everett Collection

This month sees the centennial of the birth of legendary actor Marlon Brando (he was born April 3, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska, and died July 1, 2004, in Los Angeles at age 80).

To celebrate Brando’s big-screen legacy, Turner Classic Movies is airing lineups of his films each Wednesday this month, beginning, fittingly, on what would have been his 100th birthday. That April 3 schedule runs about 24 hours beginning at 6am ET and includes several movies featuring some of Brando’s most acclaimed performances, like Mutiny on the Bounty (1962), Julius Caesar (1953; Best Actor Oscar nominee), On the Waterfront (1954; Best Actor winner), The Wild One (1953), A Streetcar Named Desire (1951; Best Actor nominee) and more.

TCM’s Brando salutes on the remaining Wednesdays begin at 8pm ET. The April 10 evening schedule begins with the iconic 1972 classic The Godfather, featuring Brando in another Best Actor-winning role. Also that night is the TCM premiere of Last Tango in Paris (1972), which earned the star a Best Actor nomination. Another TCM premiere is featured during the April 17 lineup: The Ugly American (1963). Among other highlights that night is A Dry White Season (1989), with Brando in a Best Supporting Actor-nominated role. The monthlong tribute concludes with four films on April 24, highlighted by Apocalypse Now (1979).
