Happy Days recently marked its 50th anniversary (the series debuted on ABC Jan. 15, 1974).

If you’re a fan of this classic 1950s/early ’60s-set sitcom, one way you can celebrate is with the upcoming book Happy Days: The Official Cookbook by Christina Ward, which is being published by Insight Editions and will be available April 16, 2024, wherever books are sold.

front cover of "Happy Days: The Official Cookbook." The top of the cover features the "Happy Days" title stylized as it was on the TV show, looking like a '50s jukebox. right below in smaller white print is "The Official Cookbook." Below that is a square photo with "Happy Days" characters taken during the 1970, seated in the fictional Arnold's restaurant. Left to right are Chachi (Scott Baio), Potsie (Anson Williams), Richie (Ron Howard), the Fonz (Henry Winkler) and Ralph (Don Most). Around this photo are photos, two vertical ones on either side, of some of the foods that can be made with the book's recipes, including pancakes, sundaes and sandwiches. Below the cast photo, in white print, reads the title's deck: "From Aaaay to Zucchini Bread." Below that reads: "By Christina Ward"

With a subtitle promising to cover everything from “Aaaay to Zucchini Bread,” this is the first and only officially licensed Happy Days cookbook. And it looks pretty thorough, offering more than 90 Happy Days-inspired recipes that also act as a guide to familiar and comfortable flavors of mid-century America.

Designed for chefs of all levels, Happy Days: The Official Cookbook features foods for various meals, and for any time of the week — whether you’re making them on Sunday, Monday (Happy Days), Tuesday, Wednesday (Happy Days), Thursday, Friday (Happy Days) or Saturday (what a day!).

Recipes range from Breakfast items (things like the Blueberry Hill Pancakes pictured at top, and Joanie’s French Toast) to Dinner (including Chachi’s Mom’s Spaghetti and Meatballs in Red Sauce and Mrs. C’s Favorite Pot Roast), and everything in between.

There are also recipes for drinks and desserts, like a “Sugar Lips” Smoothie and Ralph Malph’s Cherries Jubilee, and recipes billed as being “From Arnold’s Menu,” so you can pretend you are hanging out with Richie and the gang at that famed drive-in restaurant while enjoying Fonzie’s Favorite Fried Onions, Arnold’s Slow Cooker Chili and lots more.

Adding to the fun, trivia questions about the show and the ’50s in general are peppered throughout the book and featured on most of the recipe pages. There are also plenty of photos of not only the completed recipes, but also memorable Happy Days moments.

A lot of great ways to make sure you and yours can enjoy your own happy — and tasty — days!
