National Ice Cream Day is celebrated every year on the third Sunday in July in the United States. It was officially recognized in 1984 by then-President Ronald Reagan, who signed a proclamation designating the day as a way to honor the sweet treat.

Reagan chose July for this celebration because it’s a popular time for ice cream consumption, with hot summer days making the chilly treat especially appealing. The day aims to celebrate the history, fun, and enjoyment that ice cream has brought to people of all ages.

National Ice Cream Day encourages people to indulge in ice cream, and many ice cream shops or chains often offer special deals or discounts on this day. It’s a fun way to celebrate a treat that’s been loved for centuries!
